Dawn Chorus / W Heardman on Slack’s Radio
The first episode of my monthly show, Dawn Chorus, on the Newcastle-based independent radio station @slacksradio.
During the dawn chorus — which peaks in the half hour before and after sunrise — the air is so still and quiet that sound carries twenty times further than it would later in the day.
This is the sonic space this radio show exists in: here you’ll find ethereal, hypnotic, ambient and experimental music evoking the transition between night and day, between waking and dreaming.
It means a lot to be involved with a project that has its roots in the North East and my hometown of Newcastle. Listen below :)

NTS SUPPORTER RADIO - LLORANDO (CRYING)/W HEARDMAN
When you are heartbroken you enter a cloudy, dreamy state - your perception of time becomes warped, it stretches and yawns out in front of you - the everyday can take on a surreal edge and you drift through existence for a while. This mix emulates that feeling, and gently guides you through to the light on the other side. By Heardman.
THE WORKS
In THE WORKS, Eloise Hendy looks at the spaces populating our cities, and tries to get a handle on what they can tell us about contemporary culture - about jobs and leisure and how public space and society is currently being conceived. How are we supposed to work, and live, now?
